From birth to death we are all on our own individual journey.  We have the freedom to follow in the slip-stream of life or we may take the opportunity of discovering more about ourselves and the mysteries of existence.  We can choose to open the door to self-discovery:

Truth is within ourselves; it takes no rise
From outward things, what’ere you may believe
There is an inmost centre in us all,
Where truth abides in fullness; and around
Wall upon wall the gross flesh hems us in.
…. ‘To know’
Rather consists in opening out a way
Whence the imprisoned splendour may escape,
Than in effecting entry for a light
Supposed to be without

Life provides the necessary conditions for the evolution of consciousness and many traditions teach the benefits of reaching a state of, harmony and balance and stillness, through self-observation and meditation.  It is through these practices that we can raise our level of consciousness and find out more about the deeper aspects of life.

By learning more about ourselves we can uplift our spirit, change our vibrations towards non-violence, truthfulness, purity and fortitude.  Through personal observance we can understand ourselves better and start to develop compassion, unconditional love, clarity, intuition and wisdom.

The Ageless Wisdom, Theosophy, teaches that we are all part of the One Life on the Wheel of Life or Wheel of Becoming.  The Wheel of Becoming is the continuous cycle of birth, life, and death, from which one liberates oneself through a Conscious Union with the One Life.  Eventually we will reach a state Self-Realisation of universal consciousness, also called transcendence or enlightenment, though this takes many lifetimes to achieve.

Theosophy helps to uplifts the spirit and leads to the Wisdom which lies behind the outer aspects of life.   It draws together all people who wish to work together to serve humanity, regardless of race, creed, colour or gender. You too can become an aspirant seeking Truth.

Sometimes we may find that we are stuck in a rut and it can be hard to step out of familiar attitudes and viewpoints.  The practice of meditation helps us to find the Truth within.

 The Golden Stairs

A clean life,
an open mind,
a pure heart,
an eager intellect,
an unveiled spiritual perception,
a brotherliness for one’s co-disciple,
a readiness to give and receive advice and instruction,
a loyal sense of duty to the Teacher,
a willing obedience to the behests of Truth, once we have placed our confidence in, and believe that Teacher to be in possession of it;
a courageous endurance of personal injustice,
a brave declaration of principles,
a valiant defence of those who are unjustly attacked, and a constant eye to the idea of human progression and perfection which the secret science depicts –
these are the golden stairs up the steps of which any learner may climb to the Temple of Divine Wisdom.

—H. P. Blavatsky
